Stand Up and Rebel (SUAR) is comprised of Atlantic County youth interested in learning more and addressing issues regarding underage drinking, tobacco and other drug use.
The Stand Up and Rebel County Group is available to all Atlantic County high school students, regardless of whether or not their school has a SUAR chapter within. The SUAR County group meets once a month. Dinner is always provided at county meetings as well!

COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS
Plentiful community service hours are available for ALL Stand Up and Rebel Members to earn! These hours can be used for National Honor Society, College Applications, and Job Applications.

STAND UP AND REBEL ACTIVITIES
National Night Out - SUAR members participate in this community-police awareness-raising event, held the first Tuesday of August.
Project Graduation - Opportunity to volunteer with decorating, giving out food, prizes, and activities for all-night celebration of graduating seniors.
Great American Smokeout - The Great American Smokeout is an annual intervention event on the third Thursday of November by the American Cancer Society. SUAR members create posters and other materials to post around their school to encourage people to quit smoking or vaping.
Gilda’s Club Christmas Event - An event where SUAR members attend a holiday party, dress up as “Christmas characters”, face paint, do arts and crafts, dance and more to support the child members of Gilda’s Club.
Take Down Tobacco Day -Take Down Tobacco is a national day of action that empowers people to stand up and speak out against the tobacco industry. Every March, hundreds of communities hold events and rally together to Take Down Tobacco
Door decorating activities - Students raise awareness of the dangers of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs (ATOD) and showcase healthy activities for teens.
Presentations at city council meetings - students advocate for policy change to support a healthier community
Sticker Shock - to discourage older adults and older peers from providing underage youth with alcohol.
Beach Cleanups - A day in the summer to clean up cigarette butts and vape pods from the beach, followed by a picnic on the beach!
Red Ribbon Week prevention activities - Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October. SUAR members create posters and other materials to display in their school to help promote awareness of RRW’s agenda.
Mentoring-Reading books to younger students - raising awareness about the dangers of tobacco
Above the Influence Activities - students share their personal reasons for being too good for drugs
SAMHSA National Drug Facts Week activities - is a health observance week for teens that aims to SHATTER THE MYTHS® about drug and alcohol use.
Project 1,200 -students remember the 1,200 people that die daily from Tobacco related illnesses through a pinwheel display. Each individual is represented by a pinwheel placed together at a central location.
World No Tobacco Day-This yearly celebration informs the public on the dangers of using tobacco, the business practices of tobacco companies, what WHO is doing to fight the tobacco epidemic, and what people around the world can do to claim their right to health and healthy living and to protect future generations.
Bay Fest Zombie Project-students dress as zombies to bring awareness to the dangers of prescription drugs and proper disposal of medications.
